IMHO, the hippie generation did not end in the 70s. The movement continued with hippie Steve Jobs who counter-culturally changed the world with the way he did tech.

important things I have done in my life." As Jobs himself has suggested,
LSD may have contributed to the "think different" approach that still
puts Apple's designs a head above the competition."
But now that Steve is in the ICloud, I guess, the spirit of "hippieness" has died with him.
