my generation

They call my generation "X". I have a cheesier version... I call people in their mid-30s to mid-40s "THE LUCKY GENERATION."

Why? We were able to witness almost all the changes in media, technology and pop culture. We experienced old stuff like typewriters, black and white tv and record players but we also dealt with Ipads, ipods and LCD tvs. In other words, we adapted quickly and made it our own.

EXAMPLES, EXAMPLES, EXAMPLES...

MUSIC
  • The change from records and tapes to cds and mp3 files... from record players and walkman to discman and now Ipads
Nowadays, some young people don't even know what a long playing record album looks like
and that is sad.

WORD PROCESSING
  • Typewriters, then electronic typewriters, then the pc came and we used wordstar, and eventually microsoft word.
TELEVISION
  • The boob tube world in black and white and without remote. Then color TV came in... and of course, remote control
TELECOMMUNICATIONS
  • From analog telephones to beepers/pagers to old school big mobile phones to smart phones
RESEARCH
  • From encyclopedias to google
Today's generation may be lucky to experience everything at their fingertips and at their beck and call. But my generation is luckier to have tried both analog and digital... and to have experienced the difference between both worlds.
