pinoy futbol sub cult

Even if we lost, we Pinoys still had our moment. Til the next World Cup Qualifier... there is no way but up.

seismology + futbol sub cult

If you think Earthquakes and football don't mix, then how do you explain this...

Approximately 6:40pm, I get a Tweet that the Philippine Azkals just scored a goal over Myanmar.

Almost the same time, an Earthquake happens.

So I therefore conclude that the goal caused the quake.

EARTHQUAKE GOAL NIGGAS!

an unsubcultured sports fan's notes about "winning"

Everyone loves a winner. That's an established fact. In sports, the more wins, the more fans. 2 perfect examples are the Azkals and the Ateneo Blue Eagles.

AZKALS
The general Pinoy pop. didn't care about football. Didn't even know we had a team comprised of half-euros... that is until they started winning in the Suzuki Cup. Now, coupled with their poster boy looks, they have a screaming horde of fans.

ATENEO BLUE EAGLES
There was a time in the past Ateneans lovingly call "The Dark Ages." That was mostly the 90s until early 2k when the Blue Eagles sucked. Naturally, only the die-hards [this term is also relative] watched games live or on TV during that time. But ever since 2002, when the team had been winning again, more and more blue bloods have been riding the blue bandwagon.

Don't get me wrong, rooting for winners and jumping on the bandwagon is ok. In fact, it's great that the Azkals have been taking this supposedly basketball country by storm. And it's awesome that now, Pinoys are getting bit by bit futbol subcultured.

What I'm really trying to say is that being there even when your team was down, and then being there in victory makes the winning experience even sweeter.

q. What's a "YOUNGHUSBAND" [or what are Younghusbands]?

a. They are a half-English/half Pinoy brotha tandem playing for the Philippine National Football
Team, a.k.a. The Azkals.

This brotherly tandem is solely responsible for the popularity of a corny
sentence/declaration usually uttered by Filipina COUGARS...

"Can you be my YOUNG HUSBAND?"

[still can't get over that historic azkals win on home soil]

I may be unsubcultured but this I know... it was but apt that the first goal was by Emilio "Chiefy" Caligdong, homegrown talent from Barotac Nuevo. That place, you might say, is sort of a ground zero for Pinoy football. Yep, that town eats, sleeps, breathes, and shits football.

Awesome job Mr. Caligdong. IKAW NA ANG PINAKA-POGS NA AZKAL.

the historic score to remember...

pinoy futbol sub cult

WHY THE PHILIPPINES-MONGOLIA GAME IN PANAAD, BACOLOD IS IMHO, HISTORIC...

[01]
I have never seen sooooooooooooooooooo many Pinoys watch a football game.

[02]
In European and World Cup games, you hear fans chanting. In the Philippines, you hear FEMALES SHRIEKING LIKE WILD BANSHEES. Too bad baduy Pinoys kept chanting the sucky song "Who let the dogs out."

[03]
First goal was made by a homegrown "Pinoy."

[04]
The game was actually played by only 10 people on the field... the ten Pinoys [goalie who actually did nothing hahaha not included] vs the Mongolian Goalkeeper

unsubcultured pinoy futbol question...

Eh kung pangit ang lahat ng mga Azkals...

[1] Dadami kaya fans nila [na babae]?

[2] Bibigyan kaya sila ni madaming datong ni MVP?
