running sub cult
Sayang ang pera sa mga run-run na yan!
3k at 650 bucks?
Isang matinding steak na yan!
5k at 750 bucks?
Sa bus, makakapunta ka na siguro sa Baguio at pabalik niyan!
10k at 950 bucks?
Na iimagine mo ba kung ilang beer ang mabibili mo diyan?
21 k at P1,150?
Magpapamasahe with "happy ending" nalang ako!
went surplus shop tripping last sunday...
It's summer so you can't really stay in these places for a long time or you'll die from heat exhaustion...

folding bike + catholicism sub cult
The Holy Week break. I wisely stayed in Manila to chill, ride my bike, do movie marathons and fix/clean/rearrange my shitty room.
Wednesday, I forced my outtashape body to play ultimate after two years of not playing and I suffered for it.
But I guess I loved inflicting pain on myself because the next day, Thursday, I rode my folding bike to Bisita Iglesia or 7 churches.

I haven't spent Holy Week in Manila for ages so these are what I found out...
[1] It was traffic hell around the churches so good thing I was on a bike [besides I wouldn't even do Bisita Iglesia on a car, I did this on a bike for the experience].
[2]There was a "fiesta" athmosphere around the churches as vendors sold their shit to hungry and thirsty Pinoy Roman Catholics [yup, Catholicism is alive and well in the 'Pines].
It was my first time to join a group and boy I found it hard to keep up.
I usually rode at my own pace but in a group, I was pressured to
ride as they do. I hate red traffic lights when driving. But in biking, specially in my condition, STOPLIGHTS ARE YOUR FRIEND!
Long story short, I huffed and puffed but survived the ride from MOA to Quiapo, passing old school Manila churches. They were also kind enough to wait for me. Yes, there is a God.

ultimate frisbee + the breakfast club + john hughes movie lovers sub cult
I have retired from playing Ultimate. But lately, I've been playing again. It's because I really need the exercise and of course, I missed all my teammates and friends. So even if I don't have any intentions of joining any league or tournament, I still copped the BC uniform. Why? Because IT'S AWESOME.
P.S.
They say the guy on the pic is Judd Nelson from the 80s movie "The Breakfast Club." Ok I believe you hehehe [actually, he looks more like Mike Damone, a character from another 80s movie FAST TIMES AT RIDGEMONT HIGH].
folding bike sub cult
On chill sunny Sundays, I take my folding bike around old school Manila --- Malate, Intramuros, Escolta, Chinatown, Luneta, etc. I usually drop by this place in Ongpin because, IMHO, they have the best Almond shake ever...

catholicism sub cult
What is the "PABASA?"
There are lots of rituals during Holy Week or Lent or Semana Santa. Some [IMHO] stupid people have themselves whipped and then nailed to the cross exactly like JC did 2012 years ago... some visit 7 churches... some just say the rosary... some go to retreats... some join or watch processions... while the rest of the world treats it like spring break and gets wasted on alcohol on a nightly basis.
This is my Mother's side clan/family's Lenten ritual - the Pabasa. It happens every Wednesday of Lent in the family compound in Malabon. What is it? Basically this - a group of people read and chant the passion, death and resurrection of JC for the entire day. And who does the reading and the chanting? Not my relatives. Some people just go to the place on a yearly basis.
See that big ass altar with the big ass saints? They have been with the family for a long time. And based on hearsay, some of those statues move or do minor miracles. But that's just faith speaking. As for me, I just look forward to the lunchtime fare of kare kare, adobo, fried hito and kilawin. So it's like family Christmas reunion food.

bautista family sub cult
This is my nephew Javi. His second cousin has been teaching him to play the guitar. And during our Aunt's 90s birthday bash, he "Biebered" a song. I love my cool family [at the expense of sounding cheesy].
pinoy indie movie + gangsta sub cult
This is the best Pinoy indie movies ever made [ONLY BECAUSE ONE OF MY MENGS IS IN IT HAHAHA]. Watch it, cringe, have a good laugh. My friend who plays a gangsta's girlfriend cringes too when she's herself in it.
It's time to summon the count for an important unsubcultured milestone...
