pinoy pride pa rin!

SA FOOTBALL SUB CULT...

Philippines stuns USA in the Homeless World Cup for a 2-1 record.

SA ULTIMATE FRISBEE SUB CULT...

Boracay Dragons defeat Ireland 13-2... they are now also 2-1 in the World Championships of Beach Ultimate.

Leshgoooo Pinas!

good day, ey...

Driving to work. Sunny day. Listening to Fresh Feeling by the Eels. Saw some people on the street smiling [one notable one was a woman smiling while reading a text from her mobile phone... what could that be? good news? a joke from a friend? ]. Damn, even one motorist smiled as I let him pass first.

Yeah, this will be a good day.

beach ultimate frisbee sub cult

Pinoy pride happens in many ways. You've got the PDBF for Dragon Boat racing... the Azkals for football... Smart Gilas for basketball.

But last night I was excited about one thing... my first live beach ultimate frisbee streaming match... Boracay Dragons/Philippines vs Italy in the opening game of the World Championship of Beach Ultimate.

I was shouting like a madman because this is the only Philippine team where I know half of the team... and I used to play the sport as well. Too bad they lost 12-9. Height is might... and Italia used that advantage to pounce on Pinas. But it's just the first game. I have a feeling the Dragons will win it all. Pinoy Pride.

spotted at the mall... nice design by this shoe brand called native...

Won't buy it though. I think I've bought enough kicks already. That's what happens when you read too many shoe blogs dammit.

food blogging sub cult

I am not a food blogger but I have opinions about food too. Take for example BONCHON CHICKEN. It's all hype. Tasted it for the first time yesterday and it was NOTHING GREAT. I mean it's just home cooked fried chicken for crying out loud. Your household help can probably do a better job.

It's just good marketing and nothing else.

i've gone ape...

[...or how I've been immersing myself in the ape sub cult for the past few days... ]

Last week I watched this...

Liked it. It was a good parallel prequel to the classic Planet of the Apes movie series from the late 60s and early 70s. So I downloaded and watched these...

Awesome. Retro-cool even. Can't forget famous lines like "get your stinking paws off me you damn dirty ape"... and classic scenes like Charlton Heston's character realizing that humans have blown themselves back to the stone age when he sees the head of the Statue of Liberty on a post-apocalyptic beach.

Lastly, thank gawd the movie producer/writer/director didn't think of any animal but apes. I mean Planet of the Chickens would be a bit more horrible right?

android + toy camera + lomo sub cult

Just bought this app for my Samsung phone called VIGNETTE and now I am photo-happy. Just like Iphone's Hipstamatic, it has many settings that can help you take quirky, trippy, raw, old school style pics. Made me forget about my broken Digital Harinezumi and the Lomo cams I bought which I don't use anymore because it's tedious to have the film developed all the time.

Anyway, here are some sample pics I took around the office. To hell with work, right?

unsubcultured opinion: the best shake i ever tasted...

Sunday. Went biking in Manila. Upon reaching Ongpin St in Chinatown, I decided to take a breather.

Stopped in this place called Mr. Ube and ordered siomai and ALMOND SHAKE.

Here's what's left of the Almond shake I gulped like there was no tomorrow. Maybe I was tired, and it was a humid afternoon but I still think this was the best shake experience I ever had.

yoda is to the jedi as this guy is to horny dudes around the world...

random scenes from another solo folding bike ride around the manila sub cult...

Aside from experience total noise pollution Manila style [I tried biking under the MRT and LRT, around Recto and Rizal avenue] which was probably louder than heavy metal, I also got to see my favorite ruins, old buildings, Chinatown, graffiti, traffic and boats on the bay. I love biking.

pinoy futbol sub cult

Chanced upon this kids playing football inside the walls of Intramuros. Better than playing basketball, right? I think Azkals football is slowly, surely, subtly influencing young kids, which is good.
