I don't have anything to say about the Pacquiao-Margarito fight yesterday. I just think the Pacman is trending right now so it might be a good chance to draw more readers to my blog.

Well, I'm going to waste more blogspace with a few notes about the event yesterday...
  • I only watched it because I wanted to test how quick my internet is at home and how effective my router is. Two thumbs up
  • I also watched it because I saw my brother was desperate to watch it earlier than the pathetic GMA7/Solar free TV broadcast. I think it made his day
  • The Pacman is the Philippines' best make-up/sfx artist. Totally awesome job on Margarito!
  • UNANIMOUS DECISION goes to Jinky Pacquiao who looks totally different. Credit goes to her plastic surgeon or who ever did her. Ang galing ng pagka-gawa!
  • Finally, I don't think that was Manny Pacquiao we all saw yesterday. The person who beat Margarito to a pulp in 11 rounds and actually show mercy during the 12th round was Aling Dionisia. If that was the Pacman, Margarito would have been down by the 6th round or earlier.

mallrat-ing + work + pinoy alternative music sub cult

This song by Yano titled "Esem" best describes how I feel about work nowadays...

Patingin-tingin, di naman makabili
Patingin-tingin, di makapanood ng sine
Walang ibang pera, kundi pamasahe
Nakayanan ko lang, pambili ng dalawang yosi

Paamoy-amoy, di naman makakain
Busog na sa tubig
Gutom ay lilipas din
Patuloy ang laboy
Walang iisipin
Kailangang magsaya, kailangang magpahangin

Nakakainip ang ganitong buhay
Nakakainis ang ganitong buhay
Nakakainip ang ganitong buhay
Nakakainis ang ganitong buhay
(Repeat)

Gumagabi na
Ako'y uuwi na
Tapos na ang saya
Balik sa problema
At bukas ng umaga
Uulitin ko pa ba ang kahibangang ito
Sa tingin ko hindi na

Nakakainip ang ganitong buhay
Nakakainis ang ganitong buhay
Nakakainip ang ganitong buhay
Nakakainis ang ganitong buhay

Nakakabaliw ang ganitong buhay
Di nakakaaliw ang ganitong buhay
Nakakabaliw ang ganitong buhay
Di nakakaaliw ang ganitong buhay

No... no no no

street entertainment + panhandling/mendicancy sub cult

Street kids are getting creative nowadays. Now some of them don't ask money from you straight out. Now they've added entertainment value to their begging by bringing in makeshift drums and playing it at the back entrance of jeepneys.

I just see it while driving so I really don't know if they irritate or entertain the passengers.

Today, it's drums. Someday someone will play a guitar. What if someone decides to bring in a piano? Or what if they decide to form a 5 man begging band?

This is an 80s Brit band called WANG CHUNG.

They had popular hits like Dance Hall Days, To Live and Die in L.A. and Everybody Have Fun Tonight. Didn't know they had a really great song called SPACE JUNK. Learned about this gem of a song because it was played during the last part of THE WALKING DEAD Episode 1.

Being a zombie cult follower has its perks.

Damn Christmas songs. We've been hearing them since September 1 kicked in. The geniuses in my building have been playing in the lobby and now, my office building feels like a mall... not Trinoma or SM, but Starmall and Ali effin Mall. I don't like Xmas songs in general because they are so wholesome and happy. But here are a few Xmas songs I like...

[1] 12 Days of Christmas by Bob & Doug McKenzie [I only hear it in NU107 so I guess I won't be hearing this anymore]

Okay, good day, this is
Our Christmas part of the album
And you can play this
At your Christmas parties, uh
Or to yourself on Christmas Eve

If there's nothing else to do

Good day, eh (yeah)

In case you thought, like
I wasn't on this part

Oh, I guarantee you, you'd be on
Okay, so, good day
This is the Christmas part
And, we're gonna tell you
What to get, uh
Your true love for Christmas

Look out the window

Where, what are you doing?

Snow, hosehead

Oh, it's the Great White North
And it's snowing, 'cause
It's Christmas time
Hey, hoser

What?

Here's a quiz, quiz for Doug

Okay, I have my thinking toque on

Yeah, right, what are
The twelve days of Christmas
'Cause, figure it out, right
Christmas is when

Uh, the 25th

Right, and what's the 24th
Christmas Eve, right
So, that's two (that's two)

And then, what's after that

Uh, Wrestling Day

No, get out

Boxing Day, yeah, yeah

That's three (I knew)
Then what's after that...nothing

(New Year's Eve) five (okay)
Where do you get twelve?

Uh, there's two Saturdays
And Sundays in there, that's four
That's nine and three other days
Which I believe are the mystery days
New Year's (four) and what's

Okay now, this is our Christmas song
In case you don't know what
To get somebody for Christmas

There's lots of ideas in here
So listen and don't get stuck

By the way, that's me on the organ
(Aw, jeez) you start (okay)

On the first day of Christmas
My true love gave to me, a beer
On the second day of Christmas
My true love gave to me

Two turtlenecks and a beer

On the third day of Christmas
My true love gave to me
Three French toast
Two turtlenecks and a beer

There should be more there

(Where) on the...go

Fourth day of Christmas
My true love gave to me
Four pounds of back bacon
Three French toast
Two turtlenecks and a beer
In a tree, see, you need more

On the fifth day of Christmas
My true love gave to me
Five golden toques
Four pounds of back bacon

Three French toast
Two turtlenecks and a beer
In a tree

Okay, on the sixth, you go
Christmas, my true love gave to me
Six packs of two-four
Five golden toques
Four pounds of back bacon
Three French toast
Two turtlenecks and a beer
In a tree, okay

On the seventh day of Christmas
My true love gave to me
Seven packs of smokes (nice gift)
Oh, six packs of two-four
Five golden toques
Four pounds of back bacon

Three French toast
Two turtlenecks
And a beer in a tree

Right, I keep forgetting

Phew, this should just be
The two days of Christmas
It's too hard for us
(Um) go, hoser (oh)

On the eighth day of Christmas
My true love gave to me
Eight comic books
Seven packs of smokes
Six packs of two-four
Five golden toques

Four pounds of back bacon
Three French toast
Two turtlenecks
And a beer on my tree

Yeah, that beer's empty
Okay, day (twelve) twelve

Good day
And welcome to day twelve

Five golden toques
Four pounds of back bacon
Three French toast
Two turtlenecks
And a beer in a tree

Beauty, eh
Where'd you learn to do that
Uh, albums

Boy, so, like, that's our song
Merry Christmas
Merry Christmas
And good day
Good day, everybody

Happy New Year too

Okay, you know what you left out
(What) donuts
I told you to get me donuts

Either on the ninth day
Or the tenth day
Or the eleventh day
I wanted donuts

Okay, the song's over
But I want
Merry Christmas, everybody

Or on the twelfth day
You coulda got me a dozen donuts
So, go out to the stores
And get some presents.

You coulda gone down to
Like, the good donut shop
Where if you buy a dozen
You get another one free
And then thirteen for
The thirteen days of Christmas

Well, next Christmas
I'll get me a chainsaw
Take off

Boy, that song was a beauty
It moved me
Yeah, I think it ranks up there
With Stairway to Heaven (what?)

[2] Olops by Parokya ni Edgar

you know there's dasher and dancer,
prancer and vixen, comet and cupid,
and donder and blitzen...
but do you recall the least famous reindeer of all?

hey olops
ohhh olops

i have a little story
about a not-so-famous reindeer
he is rudolph's younger cousin
and they were born on that same year
his name is little olops
and he was jealous of his peer
it was always rudolph red-nose
and olops, the other deer

now olops hated rudolph,
'cause he hated rudolph's fame
and he started treating rudolph
like a low-down dirty shame
olops, the other reindeer,
used to laugh and call him names
and he never let poor rudolph
join in any reindeer games

and so rudolph said to olops,
"why're you treating me this way?"
olops smiled and answered rudolph,
"'cause i think you're freakin' gay!
and i hate your shiny nose,
and come the eve of christmas day
i'll make sure that you won't be there
to pull on santa's sleigh!"

but olops did not know
that santa heard all that he said
and this made santa angry,
and he bonked on olops' head
then santa pulled on olops' neck,
which filled olops with dread
rudolph waved goodbye,
then gave a smile,
and then he said "you're dead!"

no one's ever heard of,
or has seen olops again
but they say olops' head
hangs in a wall in santa's den
the moral of the story is:
always be a friend
you would not want to end up
like olops in the end

olops the other reindeer
used to laugh and call him names
he never let poor rudolph
join in any reindeer games

ANG 107.5 NAG MALA-ZOMBIE!

This morning, I tuned in to 107.5 while driving to work just for the heck of it and to see if the guys were trying to maintain "radio silence" after the untimely demise of their alternative and rock programming.

I was surprised to hear baduy pop. As in yung tipong sounds na pinapatugtog sa jeep o sa mga non-aircon bus na papuntang Cavite o kaya mga jukebox sa Carriedo o kaya kapag maghuhubad na yung stripper chick sa isang girlie bar. Ganun kasama. Or maybe I'm exaggerating. Tangena haba na nitong blog na ito ah. Paano nagawa ng utak kong may ADHD ito?

Anyway, patay na ang "Home of NU Rock" so ano yung narinig ko kanina sa bandwidth na 107.5? Pamatay na pop, parang taong patay na nag-reanimate into a zombie.

I've been watching too many zombie movies. At least that's better than listening to too much pop music.

[1] Pro surfer who just travels to surf and vice-versa
[2] Pro baller with sicker moves than MJ, Kobe and Dwade and stays loyal to one team only unlike Lebron
[3] Rockstar who does not thrash hotel rooms and does not stick his tongue out or does not break guitars into pieces during a concert
[4] Novelist who can write books that people love to read and read all over again... and not write one of those self help deepak chopra inspirational shit

After reading all those articles, blogs, twits and status messages, it's time to say g-bye with my own random memories of one of my favorite radio stations...

Random memories in random order:
  • Listening to Zach and Joey in the morning while driving to Makati to work
  • Attending around 2 rock awards
  • Wondering how the female DJs looked like [finding out later on that some of them were hot!]
  • Listening to Halikinu Radio [found it corny, mas ok pa brewrats]
  • Listening to RockEd Radio
  • Listening to Quark and his friends' banter on their indie radio show and thinking if they were on drugs
That's all I can remember. Thank yo for playing nonPOP music. Hindi pa naman patay ang rakenrol dahil buhay pa si Joey Pepe Smith.

I end with my Fbook status message: Bad trip lang isipin na maglalaho na ang nu107 pero buhay na buhay pa ang Love Radio

Fact is, the TABLET existed waaaaay before Christ. Here's one geeky dude named Moses who had one of the earliest models. Rumor has it that God himself created the o.s. for this un-sinful piece of hardware. The only drawback is you only get one app called "Ten Commandments."

a "nosey" fairy tale by the unsubcultured

Once upon there was this big shipment of Coke headed for Hongkong, I think. But, alas, word got to that the authorities were ready to catch them once they reached the port. So they dumped mother shitloads of the stuff somewhere off Samar.

Long fairy tale short, it got to the townsfolk who sold them cheap to visiting tourists/travellers and surfers. So now, every Cokehead in Manila is living a fairy tale. But they probably won't live happily ever after.

unsubcultured halloween idea: adult trick or treat

Kids shouldn't have all the fun during Halloween. So after the kids get their candies and shit, it's time for the "adults" to roll. Each house in the village will set up in a minibar in front of the house and all we have to do is drink shots from house to house. Fun, right?! Even the driver can drink para talagang nakakatakot ang Halloween!

Not only will this be a great bonding session with you and your friends, you will also get to meet your hot neighbors.

Patay na daw. Sakto pang all souls day. Started hearing rumors about its demise on blogs. Today, we read it in the papers.
